Lake Lewisville

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Lewisville Lake covers nearly 29,000 acres of surface area and features 233 miles of shoreline and is located 15 minutes north of downtown Dallas along Interstate 35E. The water reaches depths up to 67 feet, with an average depth of 25 feet during “normal” operations. It is surrounded by more than 9,000 acres of protected natural habitat.

Predominant Fish Species

  • Largemouth bass
  • Spotted bass
  • White & hybrid striped bass
  • White crappie
  • Blue & channel catfish

White crappie and white bass provide the most angling activity on Lake Lewisville. Largemouth bass, the most popular fish in Texas, is also popular at Lewisville. Hybrid striped bass have been stocked and provide anglers with another open water sport fish. The blue and channel catfish fisheries are excellent.

Fishing License Regulations

A resident fishing license is required of any resident who fishes in the public waters of Texas.
